Eme De: Joining hands in Steampunk / Uniendo manos en el Steampunk

The “Steampunk Hands Around The World” initiative kicked off since the beginning of February. Within it, people from around the world have decided to get involved with the purpose of sharing and displaying the globality of steampunk community and the fact that we are all connected.

This goes way beyond the language barrier, beyond the availability of internet and the posts we may make on facebook, our blogs or websites. It’s something that we are all actively involved in. Before anything else, this initiative is about sharing, learning from each other and learning from ourselves.

How willing are we to look at the Steampunk of the world? How open are we to sharing the Steampunk made in Germany, Hungry, Hawaii, France, Spain, Italy or any other place beyond our borders?

To me, this is about expanding our horizons, going beyond our own limits seizing the tools social networks provide. It’s taking a peek at the wonders places like Steampunk India have to offer, meeting writers like Anja Bagus from Germany, Ray Dean from Hawaii, Lisa Walker England from Milwaukee or Michael Coorlim from Chicago.

It’s affirming my friendship with Lady Smoke from Argentina, Josué Ramos from Galicia, Patxi Larrabe from Bilbao and Xavi Quero from Barcelona, Marcus R. Gilman from Germany and of course Kevin D. Steil from the U.S.

It’s sharing and joining hands with other Steampunk beacons around the world, which referring to myself means a lot of opportunities throughout the year; but to share and tighten the bonds we chose the month of February. Call it International Steampunk month if you will, to me it’s still a way to recognize the world as something greater than my eyes can see and my limits show.

Desde que comenzó el mes de Febrero la iniciativa de "Steampunk Hands Around The World" dio inicio. En ella personas de todo el mundo hemos decidido involucrarnos con el propósitode compartir y mostrar que la comunidad steampunk es global y que además nos encontramos conectados.
Esto es mucho más allá de si hablamos un idioma u otro, va más allá de que exista internet y podamos cada quien poner algún post en facebook, en nuestros blogs o en nuestras páginas. Eso es algo que en mayor o menor medida todos los que nos encontramos activamente dentro del movimiento Steampunk hacemos.
Antes que nada esta iniciativa se trata de compartir, de conocer más de otros y al mismo tiempo de conocer más de nosotros mismos.

¿Que tan dispuestos estamos a mirar el Steampunk del mundo?, ¿Que tan abiertos estamos de compartir el Steampunk que se hace en Alemania, Hungría, Hawai, Francia, España, Italia o en cualquier otro lugar más allá de nuestras fronteras?

Para mi, esto es acerca de expandir nuestros horizontes, de ir más allá de nuestros propios limites aprovechando la herramienta de las redes mundiales. Es asomarme a ver las maravillas que nos ofrece lugares como Steampunk India, conocer escritores como Anja Bagus de Alemania, Ray Dean de Hawai, Lisa Walker England de Milwaukee o Michael Coorlim de Chicago.

Es reafirmar mi amistad con Lady Smoke de Argentina, Josué Ramos de Galicia, Patxi Larrabe de Bilbao y Xavi Quero de Barcelona, Marcus R. Gilman de Alemania y por supuesto Kevin D Steil de Estados Unidos.

Es compartir y poner nuestras manos en conjunto con otros Steampunk alrededor del mundo, que para hablar de mí mismo muchas son las oportunidades que tengo en todo el año; pero para compartir y afianzar los lazos hemos elegido el mes febrero. Llámenlo "Mes Internacional del Steampunk" si quieren, para mi sigue siendo una manera de aprender que el mundo es más grande que lo que puedo mirar a mi alrededor y más allá de mi mismo.
